God, Humanity, and The Heart. Recently, the writer had the opportunity of presenting a proposal to a small group of world-class experts and scholars. The presentation began with a question about the nature of human confidence. The writer asked around the room as to what exactly this so-called stuff could possibly be, and received several authoritative encapsulations, including the assumption of the high probability of success in a given endeavor. Also offered up was the equation as offered within the mathematical paradigm known as statistics. The statistical solvent equation is known as the “degree of confidence.” It is used to determine the accuracy of another equation, and thereby, offers up a level of assurance in a certain outcome. The writer offered up a bit of levity with his own “scientific-wild-@ss-guess” (SWAG) by enclosing an item in an evidence bag and circulating it as the answer to the question. The evidence was the formation of a sociologically embedded notion of confidence contained within the way a person presents themselves with a certain boisterous and assured “swagger” and as perhaps derived from the Katy Perry song entitled Swagger Jagger. But a salient point herein is just this perhaps: Is there really such a thing as the so-called “confidence?” Here, the writer will turn to his own alternate eternal self-image, “Awe Thor,” for the bricks with which to build the figurative Mansions of the Lord, just as Solomon turned to the Masons to build King Solomon’s Temple. Thus, that the self is confident, and that perhaps the emergent “uber-self” is present in the here and now, and they are in alignment somehow, provides this illuminated state of consciousness perhaps, one that seems so desirable. The writer will turn now to the works of scholars and seek an emergent interpretation of the ever-sought, oft-proclaimed, and perhaps seldom actually felt, equation of human confidence perhaps. Who and how shall our spirit be refreshed? Can it be brought forward in light to quell the passions and perturberance of self-centered frustrations and fear, to relinquish the grip and thus find the everlasting basic phenomenon known as sustainable assurance, peace and tranquility, flow, and but also, arrogance and misguided ambition where misaligned/misinterpreted perhaps? Corinthians 16:18 The Message There is a promise of the spirit, according to Jeremiah (1998). He asserts that the promise of spirit is the same as the promise of God. He offers that prayer, meditation, and indeed, dream state, are the escape hatch from the human past, and the keys to spiritual freedom and attainment (Jeremiah, 1998). There are and have been “gifts” of spirit in humans’ lives…if they can discern them. According to Jeremiah (1998), there are “special” gifts such as apostles and evangelists, “speaking” gifts such as knowledge, wisdom, teaching, and prophecy, there are “serving” gifts, such as service to other in everyday life, and finally, and perhaps most arguably perhaps, there are “sign” gifts. “Sign” gifts include miracles and healings, and so forth. Without them, a person will often if not always find immediate controversy, confusions, and ego-based experiential projection. With them, growth, nurture, and the realization of a true Faith, becomes a truth in one’s life (Jeremiah, 1998). Indeed then, how does one differentiate between Faith and confidence? Is there a difference? Is Faith the “equipment” of confidence within the life experience of a human? Does the reader have Faith? Confidence? A person’s conscious choice towards bitterness or gratitude may be the golden compass and critical path all in one (Green, 2005; ????, ???). Here Jeremiah offers a consciousness coin-flip paradigm that perhaps opens the mystical doorway that Dr Einstein actually called “The Mayan Veil,” and that occur as a person decides to perceive alternatively in these ways, for example: Blessings versus crosses Gains versus losses Joys versus woes Friends versus foes Smiles versus tears Courage versus fears Full years versus lean ones Kind deeds versus mean ones Health versus wealth God versus oneself (Jeremiah, 1998). Jeremiah (1998) offers up a proverbial pathway to heaven, if the reader will, and that to be comprehended somehow both in life and in the coming of death. He asserts that a person may walk in the steps of God by way of being with God in each moment, and thereby, upon judgment day will not fear, for that person will have been close to the “fragrance of heaven” all along.
