God Keep Our Land Recently, as I heard our Canadian National - TopicsExpress

God Keep Our Land Recently, as I heard our Canadian National Anthem being sung while getting settled to watch some of the hockey games on TV, I was overwhelmed by one of the lines that I have heard and sung often, but these two recent times the words brought tears that were much more than patriotism. This particular line is God keep our land glorious and free. Do we really mean that when we think, sing, or say it? If we do, we need to do more than repeat these words whenever the National Anthem is sung. Our country of Canada is slipping further away from Godly principles and truths continually. It is not just the recent Senate scandal, and who knows if the truth will ever be known and the situation rectified, but our government has passed laws that are totally against Biblical principles. If the majority of elected members of parliament, and the appointed members of the senate are not followers of Jesus, can we expect them to seek Gods ways, and when they dont, how can we expect God to keep our land glorious and free. In our riding we are blessed by having a Christ Follower, Harold Albrecht, sitting as an elected member of parliament, but there are not enough like him. When the above mentioned words of the anthem hit me recently, they brought tears, as well as tears of repentance. In Gods Word we are instructed to pray for those in authority, and I know I have not done so regularly, so I needed to ask Gods forgiveness, and for His Spirit to remind me continually. 1 Timothy 2 1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. If we as Christians really want God to bless our land, I believe we need to be praying for our politicians. We need to pray for those who are Believers to be strong in the Spirit and follow His leading. We need to pray for pre-Christians to see who Jesus Christ is and surrender to Him. We need to pray for all to do what is right and honourable and act respectably. We live in a great country, but it can be even better when we pray for those in authority and they follow the Principles of God.
