God Loves To Hear Our Prayers (Daily Encouragement Plus with Ike Idegbema) “The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them from all their troubles.” (Psalm 34: 17) Bible Reading: Psalm 34, Ephesians 1: 1-13 So many believers have been deceived to believe that God only answers prayers made by certain people who have special grace or anointing. Some even believe that God has His favorites - people who have through their devotion become very close to God more than others. Such individuals that have accepted these lies become bitter when they listen to the testimonies of what God is doing in the lives of others. On the contrary, God loves to hear our prayers because everyone born again child of God is special to God. In fact, He earnestly longs to hear us cry out to Him (Isaiah 30: 18). The Psalmist found that in the hour of distress he could call upon the Lord and be confident of receiving His help. In Psalm 34, David told of his trials and praise God for His loving care and deliverance. In whatever situation you find yourself, you can still trust God to hear your plea and graciously come to your help because He is very near to the brokenhearted. Assuming that God will not answer if we ask for help is the greatest tragedy that can happen to anyone living by faith. Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16: 23-24). According to F.B. Meyer, “The greatest tragedy of life is not unanswered prayer, but unoffered prayer.” David said, “The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them from all their troubles.” God loves and will answer prayers made to Him by faith because He chose us (Eph. 1: 4, John 15: 16), He adopted us into His own family so that we are able to call Him “Abba, Father.” (Eph. 1: 5; 2: 19-20, Rom. 8: 15), He has forgiven us of our sins (Eph. 1: 7, Col. 2: 13), and we are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit (Eph. 1: 13, 2 Cor. 1: 22). We can be sure that in our times of distress and anguish God is carefully watching over us. He sees us as if there is no other person in the whole world; bending His loving ear to hear to the faintest call for help and come to our aid. Answering the question, “How can God hear the cry of those in need of help in the midst of all the noise everywhere?” Aquilla Webb said, “In all the babel and confusion here below, He never fails to hear the soul that cries out to Him for help amid the breakers and storms of life.” Many of us who has walked the path of seemingly God’s silence can testify to the truth of Psalm 34: 17-19 from personal experiences of God’s intervention and deliverance. We are able to encourage others today and express gratitude with the Psalmist, “I will praise the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.” Praise God!
