God Promises We Can Cast Our Troubles Upon Him - (Psalm 55:22-23) Bible Promise Cast your burdens on Me and I will look after you. Bible Verse Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. But You, O God, shall bring them down to the pit of destruction; Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; But I will trust in You. Reading Notes David ends this psalm by restating his trust in the Lord. David knew from past experiences in his life that God would continue to sustain Him. David spent many years evading Saul the king of Israel who was trying to kill him. Not because of any wrong doing on Davids part. Saul went after David because Saul knew he was the Lords anointed and Saul wanted to kill David and prevent him from taking the throne. Saul did this knowing it was Gods will that David be king. God watched over and protected David through all those years as David continued to honor and trust God. Therefore David understood that God was for him and he knew that he could not be moved without the Lords consent. And because David had studied Gods word he also knew that God would deal with the wicked in His timing. David also knows what the scripture tells him, which is ultimately all those who rebel against God will face eternal destruction and everlasting torment because of their rebellion. And its this knowledge gained through trusting in the Lord and through the study of scripture which reinforced his trust in God alone and not men. And in many cases because of Davids trust in the Lord, he did not seek out revenge. Rather David knew it was in the hands of the Lord and that God in His timing will deal with the wicked.
