God Promises You Will Not Be Tempted Beyond What Your Able - (1st Corinthians 10:13) Bible Promise I will not let you be tested beyond what you can endure. Bible Verse No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. Reading Notes This is such an important verse from Gods word for us to remember. And along with this we need to remember what Joseph did when tempted by Potiphars wife, who tried to seduce him. Joseph ran away. When she tried to grab Joseph, he slipped out of his coat and ran away. God has promised us that we will not be tempted more than we can bear. This means God will always provide a way out of temptation. A way to avoid sinning, a way that does not put us in rebellion against God. A way out if we would just take it. It may not be the easiest way and it will require faith. And it certainly will not be the socially correct way. But it will be Gods way and it will be a means of escape without disobedience toward God. But we must remember our part, knowing that the closer we walk with the Lord the farther we are from temptations grasp. We must always be careful not to play with temptation. This means we dont tolerate temptation to be in our presence and we do not purposely put ourselves into tempting situations. A good example of this is Lot and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot first saw temptation and thought it looked nice, so he lived near Sodom and Gomorrah. He moved closer and closer to temptation as time went on. Eventually we read that Lot was living in the wicked city with his family. In the end Lots flirting with temptation cost his family dearly. We must also remember the biggest slide into temptation is our pride and arrogance. Pride and arrogance trick us into relying on ourselves and not on God. Pride and arrogance will cause us to purposely enter a compromising situation. A situation Gods word tells us to avoid. A situation we know we should not place ourselves in. However, our pride will convince us we have what it takes to make it through. And more often than not its repeated behavior of this type which causes us to stumble and fall.
