God appeared to Jacob in a dream and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land on which you lie, I will give it to you, and to your seed; And your seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in you and in your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. And, behold, I am with you, and will keep you in all places wherever you go, and will bring you again into this land; for I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken to you. See Gen. 28:13-15. The second time God appeared to Jacob it was as a man with whom Jacob wrestled. Jacob said, I will not let you go, I’ll hold on until you bless me. God said, your name is no longer Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince you have power with God and with men, and have prevailed. And God blessed Jacob there. And Jacob said I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. See Gen. 32:27-30. Jacob saw, heard and believed God. His belief in what God told him in the dream was his Faith and he held onto that faith and the blessing came to pass. God kept His promise. Jacob/Israel was saved, preserved into eternal life. Jacob/Israel actually saw God. We have not seen God, but by His Word, Jesus Christ, we still believe and have faith that God will do just what He said. -- Jesus said, “Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. John 20:29. The LOGIC, the LOVE OS GOD IS CHRIST!
