God blessed us with this Phenomenal Woman for just a little while and Im personally grateful for all that she accomplished. As a Black woman, a working artist and an activist, I am standing on the shoulders of giants like Dr. Angelou, Nina Simone, Barbara Anderson and countless others who have endured AND SURVIVED atrocities I will only have to read about in books. So I am very cognizant of the path that Dr. Angelou blazed for me and while Im certainly in awe of all that she accomplished, I am paramountly just grateful to have experienced the gift from God that she was and forever will be. I am literally saddened by the death of this great woman with whom Ive never even been in the same room. That speaks endless volumes about her effect on the world and challenges me to live my life to make sure I do every last thing God created me to do. Were all meant for greatness in some way. Were meant to shine and change our little corner of the world in some amazing fashion. Whether your calling is to be a fantastic parent, a ground-breaking scientist, an artist, the likes of which have not been seen before or a life changing teacher or even president...whatever your calling is, just please answer it and say YES.
