God called to [Moses] from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” - TopicsExpress

God called to [Moses] from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am”. The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. … So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt” … Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue” (Exodus 3:4b, 7a, 10, 4:10 NIV). The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: “Go to the great city Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me”. But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish (Jonah 1: 1-3a NIV). People hear God’s call, but like Moses and Jonah, for many different reasons, they resist that call. What you want and your deepest desire is not always the same thing. We can eat whatever we like, and we would survive, but we would not thrive. In order to thrive, we need to satisfy the deepest cravings for nutrients. If we respond to that deeper craving, the body rewards you with greater vitality. This is true of our calling too. Sometimes we have to choose between a good thing that we want and our deepest desire – God’s purpose for our life.
