God definitely gave us intellect for some reasons. And that is basically to use it to question why, how, when, what, whom and who; as applicable to our situations. Because we cannot think and we are too lazy to ask questions and do research about who God is and how He wants to served, we fall into all sort of abasing religious doctrines. The sad news is that, God will not judge us on what the religion of our parents is/are, but on what our own religion is. Be wise and search for God on your own terms and be convinced that you have made the right decision on how you serve Him for that is what you will be questioned about.
