God doesn’t force you to believe in Him or send you to hell. He gives you a choice. Hell is eternal separation from Him, brought on by the power of a choice. If He were evil, He would send us ALL there because that is what we ALL deserve. But He’s given us a way to spend eternity with Him – Jesus Christ - and it’s really a matter of swallowing our pride and realizing we need Him, confessing we are sinners and asking Him to forgive us for that sin. Sin is evil. God is good. Period. He didn’t have to even give us a way to heaven! It’s His world, His universe. His decision to open that door was nothing but grace and mercy on His part. So, you see, the evil is something He is rescuing us from after all. But it takes a willing heart. CS Lewis once quoted in The Great Divorce: “There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, Thy will be done, and those to whom God says, in the end, Thy will be done. All that are in Hell, choose it. Without that self-choice there could be no Hell. No soul that seriously and constantly desires joy will ever miss it. Those who seek find. Those who knock it is opened.”
