God holds each person accountable for his or her actions, but the downward spiral was started because of Adam and Eve. This video explains the why concerning pain and suffering. But even in the midst of dealing out punishment to Satan, Adam, and Eve, God give His first reference to His redemptive plan for all Mankind. In Genesis 3, God mentions that the womans offspring would crush Satans head even as Satan bit at Jesus heel. What this means is that Satan would surely plot to kill Jesus and try to beat Gods plan to save Mankind. Jesus death on the cross would seem like a victory: Jesus died. But thats precisely what God had in mind. Jesus death for our sins would be two-fold victory over Satan. 1. Jesus was sinless, Himself, and would rise again from the dead - THREE DAYS later, long after any normal person could be deemed viable under such circumstances. Though death had hold of Jesus - the proverbial biting of His heel - it could not claim Him. 2. By dying in the place of Mankind, Jesus became the conduit through which salvation would be and is possible. Satan sought to destroy Mankind, and in the process, unwittingly aided in advancing Gods plans. He was a pawn in the very scheme he thought he was in control of. This was the crushing of Satans head. While pain and suffering are part of the story...it is not the whole of the story. It is not the end.
