God is a friend to us--What a friend we have in Jesus, as the song says. But God is not like one of our buddies that we can slap on the back and tell a joke to. Mankind must remember that God is holy. The angels shout holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts. God is not a friend that we can manipulate. He is the God of heaven that give us divine direction. God does not provide a buffet that we can pick and choose what makes us comfortable--Ill have some grace today but no Lordship thank you; Ill take a heaping spoonful of mercy please but no repentance today. God prescribes obedience and His prescription is how we please Him--by doing things His way. Smith County Translation: Live according to the Word of God following His divine guidance and leadership; remembering that God is HOLY and He has commanded us to be holy.
