God is at work at Avalon Church and I am excited about what is - TopicsExpress

God is at work at Avalon Church and I am excited about what is happening over the next couple of months. Our Pastoral Advisory Team and I have been planning, praying, and working hard and we are on the verge of some big things. As always, every decision we make is driven by the vision of reaching people with the gospel and seeing our church play it’s part in God’s story. We want to reach people who are not here yet so we can reach those who have not heard yet. Over the past 18 months we have seen several of our staff members launch out into new ministries; some have helped launch new churches and some have seen God open doors for them in new ministries. I am glad that our church seeks to be judged by its sending capacity rather than it’s seating capacity. We have understood for some time now that this would present an opportunity for us to reshape and refocus around the vision God has given us. We have been deliberate about our plan and have moved with a purpose. I am tremendously enthusiastic about the team God is assembling and I fully believe that we will experience some incredible growth in the years to come because of our faith and our carefully thought out plan. We have hired Dave Marrett from Australia to be our new Executive Pastor. Dave has a proven track record and has worked with some of America’s fastest growing churches. He and his family will be in place at Avalon by August. He has already helped our team to identify two staff members that will be critical to our growth. We plan to make these new hires in the next few months. I cannot adequately express how positive, thankful, and faith-filled I am about our church going forward and the plans we have for restructuring for growth. I am confident that this realignment will pay huge dividends in reaching people with the gospel. Because of our focus on reaching people we will make some changes in the existing staff structure and job descriptions. Some of our staff will be placed in an area that makes better use of their strengths. Recently some of our staff members have pitched in and covered areas not originally in their job description. I am so thankful for them, their hard work, and their excellent attitude. Pray for our staff moving forward. There will be a lot of exciting days and challenges ahead for them. Some of them will face changing job descriptions. All of them will face new challenges as our team sets new goals and works toward our vision. Pray especially for Brandon Smith. Because of the changing needs of our church his position is being changed to a part-time position. Pray that God will open a door of employment opportunity for him and his family and that they will be able to function in this new role. Our church has always employed some positions that were part-time and it is important that we hold these employees up to God in prayer. Their contribution is valuable! Thank you for praying for Avalon Church, our staff, and for Kim and me. We love you and are honored to serve you. I can’t wait to see what God does in the next few months! Pastor Ritchie
