God knows that I have delivered my message. God knows that I have - TopicsExpress

God knows that I have delivered my message. God knows that I have discharged my responsibility. So, I should be exonerated from any future blame. Those were exactly what I was saying at the concluding part of a persuasive and mobilization speech I was delivering to the current students of my alma mater. Wearing a white traditional Hausa babbar riga (which I hardly put), I saw myself in the dream lamenting over the pitiable, delapidated, horrible and disgraceful condition of the hostels in the school. The tone of my speech conveyed anger and stressed the need to wake up for participatory action with a view to salvaging the school from the mess we saw. In the speech, I drew the attention of the students and our friends present to take all measures to ensure total rehabilitation of the school. Let it not stop as a dream or a mere speech. The truth of the matter is that the school needs a compherensive renovation. Perhaps, the last renovation was more than a decade back. At an inspection tour at the students hostel after our annual meeting we were set aback with the condition of the hostels in the school. We could not find wisdom behind such nasty treatment of the existing school while the govt is busy building new and uncommissioned schools. The worst is that the school is located in a popular town along main road with a few minute drive to the states seat of power. It was shocking and demeaning. I was wondering how could students learn in such environment. No wonder most of the teachers who taught us there have either left the school or died. How could one be sure of the quality of knowledge imparted there when even learning environment is not healthy and suitable for human life. Perhaps that informed why the recently release result of WAEC was marred by mass failure. More worrisome is that the Federal Government has ordered that all primary and secondary schools will remain under lock and key. All these action will covertly or overtly help the realization and champion the struggle to make Boko Haram to the common man in Nigeria. Who will salvage our future? The poor man has no opportunity to send their children to study abroad. Those who stay here are humiliated in an excruciating condition. Are we contented to remain like this? Who will come to the our rescue?
