God loves the poor and powerful alike, of course. But sometimes - TopicsExpress

God loves the poor and powerful alike, of course. But sometimes wealth and power can insulate man from seeing his need for God’s love. That’s why Jesus said He came not to call the healthy and wealthy, but the sin-sick souls who recognized their need for salvation (Mark 2:17). Jesus demonstrated and taught that the kingdom of God is not based on rank or class but on spiritual willingness to embrace God’s presence. Jesus ministered to everyone, poor and powerful alike, but it was crowds of common folk who followed Him, not crowds of the wealthy. Don’t let poverty or wealth, averageness or exceptionality, keep you from Jesus (Proverbs 30:7-9). His call goes to each one alike, as all have the same need. The two great tests of character are wealth and poverty. Unknown
