God of all goodness, I turn toward you with a loving heart and in utmost confidence and thank you for the blessings of family and friends. Please be with my son this year. Surround him with good friends, and provide him with excellent teachers and with the wise counsel of trustworthy guides. Give him the discipline and the understanding necessary to succeed in his studies and the determination to remain focused on his education and committed to his goals. Protect him while he is away from home. Continue to strengthen and inspire him to believe in himself, to find goodness in others, to grow in faith, and to count on your loving support. Help him to learn to delight in each new day, in each new relationship, and in the natural beauty that surrounds him. Help him to be kind to his friends and to be generous to those in need, to enjoy learning and to live joyfully, to respond to each challenge with courage, creativity and confidence, to act responsibly and justly as he grows in age and wisdom. I thank you for setting him at tasks that will demand his best efforts and for leading him to accomplishments that will satisfy and delight him; and I thank you for this university that partners with us in helping form and educate him toward a life of ethical leadership and serve.
