God said to go beat the tar out people!! Lashes and wounds purge away evil, and beatings cleans the innermost parts (Proverbs 20:30) - JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope I stopped you before you grabbed your neighbor by the hair. :) John Casas and I were talking about this last night; how our pain has made us who we are. In the words of Captain Kirk I WANT MY PAIN! I NEED MY PAIN!!! While I was doing my devotional today, I ran across the above mentioned Proverb. Isnt that cool how God works? Pain often has a purifying effect. It can remove what is not real and in its place leave nothing but truth behind. We both agreed that while we would have liked NOT to have gone through our trials and errors and the things that took us beneath our emotional floors, we would not have been the same people without them. I hear people saying things like Why me God? Why does this always happen to me? My son constantly says,This is the worsest day ever!! Guys, I REALLY think we need to look at something a little differently. The discipline of God is one way of God actually honoring us!! I stand in AWE whenever I am being disciplined by The Lord. The way I look at it is this: God - Oh you wanna go and think youre going to do something dumb huh? Well then....let me help you by giving you some persona;l and private attention. Here is a trial that I have set for you today...What chu got now? I know what youve got, youve got my attention!! Thats kind of how He talks to me. I know this is NOT how it really works, but it helps me understand that God disciplines me because he loves me as his son....just like I discipline my son. Because I love him. For what son is there whom the father does not disciplin? Another way - a little more calm way is - God has taken time out of His VERY busy day to pay some close attention to us. We should be honored for this time and learn from our mistakes and dod everything we can not to do them again. Like if you agree that Gods discipline is a way for us to be partakers in the nature and character of God. Peace be with you!!!
