God tells us in His Word that the tenth of our finances belongs to - TopicsExpress

God tells us in His Word that the tenth of our finances belongs to Him. Starting in Genesis 14:18-20 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!” And Abram gave him a tenth of everything. In the Bible, Melchizedek was the first to receive tithe, as a priest/representative of God Almighty. Also reading in Malachi 3:8, scripture tells us, Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Along with Malachi 3:10 , Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. For those that want to see it in the New Testament, reading in Hebrews 7:2, To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace. In the Bible, Melchizedek was the first to receive tithe, as a priest/representative of God Almighty. So, we have established that the tenth belongs to the Lord, according to the Word of God, but I want to go a little further, for many do not know what the scripture says about those that take their tithe, using it for some other purpose. Starting in Leviticus 27: 30-31, the Word of God states: And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lords: it is holy unto the Lord. And if a man will at all redeem ought (using it for some other purpose) of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the Lord. These 2 scriptures are very explicit in paying a penalty for taking what belongs to God and using it for other means. The scripture tells us that the penalty is the fifth part, which is equivalent to 20%. So this it how it works, if I take my tithe, spending it instead of giving what rightfully belongs to the Lord, His tenth, when I do pay, I am to add an additional 20%. In Biblical times, the Children of Israel paid tithe, by what they planted or their livestock, giving 10% of what they had. Say they had 10 cattle, 1 belonged to the Lord. Today, we work and receive pay, in which, we are to give God a tenth of what we receive, that is not of the net, but of the gross. When I first became a born again Christian, I paid my tithes, needless to say my husband was not happy about that, but when he got saved, he agreed to pay, but only on the net. A dear Pastor told him, Do you want to give God the best that you have? From that point on, he never had a problem. Living according to Gods Word, will bring fruitfulness into our lives. Not only today, but for tomorrow, for us, our children, and our childrens children. I want to pass my blessings to my seed and their seed...
