God wants to use you for his purpose through the leading of the Holy Spirit • John 14:12 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who believes on Me, the works that I do he shall do also, and greater works than these he shall do, because I go to My Father. • John 14:13 And whatever you may ask in My name, that I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. • John 14:14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. • The Lord is speaking to each and every one of us here and he wants to use us as we are. He has not chosen angels to declare the Gospel, he has chosen human beings who are available and willing to surrender their lives to Christ. Through you and I the HS will bring salvation, healing and deliverance to others. Without him we cannot do anything. • You and I will never experience the fullness of Christ’s miraculous power unless we live in obedience to his commandments particularly loving one another. • Jesus has given us 3 keys to experiencing his mighty works – we must believe in him, pray in his name and obey his commandments and then he will pray the Father to give us another helper. • He promised to send this helper because faith, prayer, obedience and mighty works are impossible without this wonderful person. • Who is this helper, Jesus described him as the Spirit of Truth, for he dwells in us and we know him. He will teach us all things and bring into remembrance all things that Jesus knows. • When the HS fills our life we will begin to ask for rivers of blessings to flow through our lives and we will become more bolder • So this Helper is the Spirit of God or the very presence of God and one with the Father and Son. • The HS can be compared to the sun’s rays bringing the sun’s energy to light and warm the earth, we begin to feel the Life and Warmth of the HS when we stand in the presence of the Father • The HS is the most beautiful, most precious, most loving person, his touch lifts every burden and comforts every sorrow • He cannot fill us with his fullness unless we become empty of our selfish cares and desires. (Mark 8;34-35) • He is a person like you and me and can think, feel, perceive and respond. He can hear, see and speak and he loves and also hates anything that is antichrist • He has intellect. In Romans 8:27 it states that the HS has a mind that can perceive, think and remember. In Acts 15:28 shows the HS providing guidance to the church through wisdom and intellect • He has a will – 1 Cor12:11, Acts 8:29, 10:19; Acts 16:6-7 • He has emotions. In Ephesians 4:30 Paul urged the believers not to grieve the HS. In Romans 15:30 he speaks of the Love of the Spirit. In Rom 8;26 the HS sighs and groans in intercession • He has personal relationships – he is waiting for the level of intimacy that you desire from him • He is ever present – Psalms 139:7-10 • He is all knowing – Isaiah 40; 1 Cor 2;11 • He is ever present – Luke 1;35 • Are you willing to become nothing for him. In John 16; 7-11 Jesus states 3 important duties of the HS. (a),convicts lost people that they need to repent of their sins and trust Christ for their salvation (b). he shows the unsaved that they can only be righteous through Christ’s sacrifice for their sins and His intercession before the father, (c). His presence and power in the world shows that Satan has been defeated a the cross. • We cannot glorify Jesus unless we are walking in the truth the HS gives us for he takes the things of Christ and reveals them to our hearts • John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth. For He shall not speak of Himself, but whatever He hears, He shall speak. And He will announce to you things to come. • This verse confirms that the HS has come to continue Jesus’ mission of revelation where he will lead us into a fuller knowledge of truth and help us to know god the Father and God the Son better and reveal in us the deep things of God’s nature and will. The HS is also the giver of prophetic revelation today. He can warn us of disasters, the devils schemes and show us Gods plans and purposes in our lives • The HS will lead us to glorify Christ as we become filled with the Spirit. He will use us as vessels to bring honor to the Lord as we cannot do it without him. • Glorifying Jesus is more then just praising him it is living for him and through our words and deeds where we reflect His love and power, His Grace and mercy, His righteousness and justice • As we reflect the character and ministry of Jesus in our lives the HS will convict people’s hearts 7 Things that the HS Does • He brings God’s presence into our lives – Ezekiel 39:29. When the HS fills your life God becomes very close to you and prayer becomes a real conversation with the Lord rather then a religious exercise. • He enables us to walk with God Ezekiel 36: 27-28. When we fellowship with him he will help us to hear and obey God’s voice • He enables us to know the Word of God. Prov 1:23 Pro 1:23 Turn at my warning; behold, I will pour out my Spirit to you; I will make my words known to you. • He transforms our lives – 2 Cor 3:18 But we all, with our face having been unveiled, having beheld the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Lord Spirit. • He causes us to know the righteousness, peace and joy of God’s Kingdom. Romans 14:17, Psalms16:11, Neh 8:10. Do you want to please God in all that you say, do and think, then let the HS make Jesus Lord over every area of your life • He turns our wilderness into a garden – Isaiah 32:15 until the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is thought to be a forest. • He brings excellence into our Christian walk. Dan 6:3 Then this Daniel was made overseer of the presidents and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him. And the king was planning to set him over all the kingdom. The HS is the Spirit of Excellence. In everything God has called us to do the HS will help us do it with excellence. • Lord I lay it all at the foot of your Cross and I surrender my spirit, soul and body to you. I give you my weaknesses and sins, my hopes and dreams, my fears and failures. Please take this helpless frail corrupt body and make it a vessel fit for your use.
