Godess parvati complains lord shiva that pleasure has no memory. The god of pleasure kama is also known as smara meaning memory. Thus pleasure is accompanied by memory which is lost as soon as the pleasure is over. In english there is a proverb -present pleasure is future pain and present pain is future pleasure. So what is this game. Where whatever you do is accompanied by losses. The reason why we all dont immerse in pleasure which is always so tempting is guilt. From where does the guilt come. Not from the loss . Where would it come from. The memory of pleasure is never so much as the memory of pain. We therefor never forget our days of pain and generally the perpetrator of the pain is visited by us in future , what we call as revenge. Gratitude is never expressed so much as revenge is practised. humankind has tried to strike a balance but has failed. Buddha tried to eliminate desire itself, as does the gita. Desire is the root of all evils But again parvati wonderfully says tha if there is no desire then humans will niether crave nor seek. There wont be any emotions left. Buddha answered by his doctrine of middle path. The world is full of twists and turns. Forget the world, human mind itself is in a whirlpool of conflicting ideas, emotions and of course desires. Practising criminal law for such a long time and continuously seeing, nay defending, the falling standards of morals in people I say that no balance can be struck. Desire though root of all evils cant be written of without killing the tree. Be that as it may, the worst fallout of this natural and physiological issue is society. Be it ravana, bali ie sugreevas brothe, or vishwamitra, all fell on the wrong side of law and were punished. ravana craved for parvati so much that he did tapasya to win shiva who being bholenath acceeded to this wish. A fuming parvati then transformed a frog ie mendak or mandow in sanskrit, and gave human life to it. She gave it her own replica and sent her to ravana. Ravanas wife is known as mandodari, the one of a frogs origin. Why ravana didnt do this with rama is because he wished to take revenge of his sister shurpanaka who was unceremoniously done away by lakshman. It was revenge, not desire that fuelled ravanas initial passion for sita In mahabharat draupadi secretly loved karna. THis came in light when she accidently plucked a jamun from a tree. Draupadi was forced to confess. Since then the jamun tree was cursed. Anyone who eats a jamun leaves behind a purple colour on his tongue. Meaning that he or she has closely guarded secrets. So next time youe eat jamun and it doesnt stain your tongue ,be happy. such are the stories that one is left bewildered. Even lord bahma lost one of his heads in his desire. Shiva cut off one of his heads. Since then shiva is known as kapalin. The one who wields the skull. Shiva had to seek bhiksha and live on the offerings made in he skull. There is no end to the debate. Society will progress or may not develop. In this age of kaliyug dharma will lose.as foretold. Perhaps our stories will be told in future eons. Stories of pure and sinful. So what will be your story? Pure or sinful, honest or criminal. So easy to answer. Eat a jamun and check out your tongue. Hello, you all ravanas.
