Gods 10 commandments law is eternal law as God Who gave it to humans His Heavenly government is based on and all the created beings that Christ Jesus has created are subject to that law. How do I get this from the Bible you ask? There are a number of verses that to me, prove that the Ten Commandments were in existence not only before Sinai, but even before this world was created. Lets face it, if God didnt have a law in Heaven, then Satan would not have fallen, because he would not have been subject to any rules, for where there is no law, there is no transgression (Romans 4:15). And it is my belief from the Bible verses that we will look at, that the law in Heaven is the same as the Ten Commandments we have from God on earth. We will start at the very core of this issue of Gods law being eternal by looking at God describing Satan in the Book of Ezekiel. Ezekiel 28:12-17 ...Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. These Bible verses are no doubt describing Satan. Now did you notice what it said about His position in Heaven? He was the covering cherub. What did He cover? The mercy seat of God. And what was beneath the mercy seat of God? The covenant of God, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. How do we know that the Ten Commandments are there, and WERE there BEFORE Sinai? Because when God told Moses to construct the tabernacle with the most holy place that contained the mercy seat and the Ten Commandments, it was a COPY of the one ALREADY in Heaven! Exodus 25:16-21 ...And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee. And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be. And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. You see, Moses was told by God to make 2 cherubims to cover the mercy seat and the ark which contained the Bible Ten Commandments, which was a copy of what was already in Heaven. Satan used to be one of those covering cherubs in Heaven before he sinned and fell away. How do we know for certain that the earthly tabernacle was a copy of the one already in Heaven? ... Hebrews 8:1-5 ...Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: Who serve unto THE EXAMPLE AND SHADOW OF HEAVENLY THINGS, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make ALL THINGS according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. Do you see? The earthly sanctuary that contained the Ten Commandments was a shadow or copy of the one in Heaven. Not convinced? Take a look at the next verse: Hebrews 9:24 ...For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the FIGURES OF THE TRUE; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us. The earthly tabernacle was a figure a shadow, in other words, a COPY of the one already in Heaven. Therefore the Ten Commandments on the tablets inside the ark of the testimony were also a copy of the one already in Heaven. And does the Bible show us the original one in Heaven? Yes! Revelation 11:19 ...And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple THE ARK OF HIS TESTAMENT: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail. John in vision, saw the temple of God and the ark of His testament inside, which contains the Ten Commandments, Gods eternal moral law which His government is based on. These verses show me that without doubt, Gods Bible Ten Commandments were in existence before this earth was created, and that EVERY being is subject to them. And yet there will still be those who say Oh the law was for the Jews only. Well, let me give you a Bible verse that proves this statement to be wrong ... Exodus 12:49 ...ONE LAW shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. ... The homeborn is a Jew, and the stranger is a non Jew, and yet ONE LAW was for them both. You see, God chose the nation of Israel to shine His light unto the world and to take His law to the world, and ANYONE who wanted to serve God had to keep His law. Now some professing Christians will have no problem with Gods Bible Ten Commandments being an eternal law. And yet, they will not accept the 4th Commandment as being eternal. Friend, the Ten Commandments of God ARE eternal, its what His ruling government is based on, and INCLUDED in those Ten Commandments is the 4th commandment concerning the Sabbath Day. And it doesnt suggest ANY old day to keep the Sabbath, but the SEVENTH DAY, the day God blessed and set apart at creation. The Seventh day Sabbath was not merely a ceremonial law like many believe, nor did Jesus abolish the ten commandments. The law that Jesus took out of the way was the priestly service which contained the ceremonial laws of sacrifice and burnt offerings etc. So do we have proof that the Sabbath commandment is eternal? Yes! Isaiah 66:22-23 ...For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall ALL flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. In the new heaven and earth we will come to worship God every Sabbath Day, the seventh day Sabbath according to His eternal Ten Commandments. Just remember what happened to Jesus because of man breaking Gods laws. We dont keep Gods Ten Commandments because it will save us. No, ONLY by the precious blood of Christ are we saved, BUT because we are saved through what Christ did for us, then we should keep the Bible Ten Commandments OUT OF LOVE for the One who saved us. Ecclesiastes 12:13 ...Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Revelation 14:12 ...Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Revelation 22:14 ...Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life. The Word of God in the Bible confirms the eternal nature of Gods Law, and that those who truly love the Lord and follow Him are the ones who are keeping the Bible Ten Commandments, Gods eternal law of love.
