Gods grace and mercy sustains me! I had an awesome week!!! I have been in the refining stage since the beginning of the school year. First, the move was more than a notion. As some may realize that Sean did not come with us. The day that we got ready to leave, reality struck Sean was not coming and we cried together. Twenty years of marriage and we were leaving him behind. My husband said that this was the worst thing he has ever done, to watch his family leave him behind. As I wipe away the tears this morning, God really showed up. The girls and I split up the drive 10 hours to Memphis (we stayed at my cousins and Soror Chakeba Turner and Treys house) we had a blast. Saw one of my sisters Sanceta Pugh. We left Monday for the other 10 hours to Houston. We experienced many challenges the apartment, furniture due to arrive by the movers, the call from my employer, drove to Louisiana, reported to work and lots and lots of hours of Professional Development. Whew! That was a whole lot!😧 My morning drives to work are whoa that is challenging but it goes with the territory. Forward wind to where I am today, there are three observations per school year. The Walkthrough, 45-minute observation, 15- minute observation. I have been teaching since 1994. I have taught many many kids from all walks of life reading and writing. Some kids had a whole lot of potential, some experienced challenges, a few did not make it pass their 17th birthday or if they did they did not reach 25, and others are now doing the darn thing. Well, my 45-minutes observation was conducted with my most challenging class of students. I want to compare them to my G2G9 crews that I have taught each summer for the past 4 years. Some have AD/HD, others ADD, many are functioning below grade level, lots know how to use the avoidance tactics to mask their inabilities to read and write on grade level. The principal walks into my classroom, I did not know that she unlocked my door and walked in and she took a seat. Let me preface this with my previous conversation with her was I am testing my students on Friday she said send me an email to let me know, ok, I stated. I sent the email Thursday morning 5 seconds later I look up she is in my class. Hmmm! So. I am giving my students some papers that were needing to make corrections in preparation for the Friday test. I showed each one these are your grades and you need to correct your papers or grades will remain the same. BTW- I am teaching Algebra and Geometry!😧😯😕😐😬😏😥😱😖😤😡💭 needless to say I threw up a couple of mornings. Then I realized who gives a care how I feel, they just want someone to reach and teach these kids. That I did! God said to me, this is not about you Jodi. Its about me sending blessings through you. I am a conduit. The vessel that Gods light shines through. My principal was very impressed with my teaching, classroom management, my professionalism, and the way I motivated and encouraged them (my squirrels and chipmunks-students). I checked for understanding of the material, and thermometer checked and redirected them.😄😊😉👏👏👏 She stated, you have a group on your hands! You betcha! I thought. Who was the mastermind behind assigning me to this wonderful group? I silently asked to myself.😏Sarcastically. Ill call out to him as long as I live, because he listens closely to me. (Psalms 116:2 CEB), I am thinking. She said, You handled them well, not only did you lead them, they confirmed that you are teaching them. When the volume got a little loud you brought them back in and they calmed down. 😄👏😊 I started to shed a few tears, because my morning prayers with my prayer partner (Sister Claudia Pickett) to God who changes things had manifested. Oh I give all glory and honor to God who orders everyone of my steps! Every one of them! At the beginning of this week, I began to see the change in the climate, behavior, and me. I began to own the fact that I am teaching Algebra to the most difficult and challenging kids in the 9th grade. God sent his 10,000 Angels to my classroom. He heard my plea! He answered my prayers! What a wonderful week! An awesome evaluation! An exciting life! Change is not easy, it is inevitable, you have to humble yourself in order for God to do what he does best answer prayers. To God be the Glory!
