Gods plan of salvation .. simple, yet perfect. Ephesians 2:8-9 - TopicsExpress

Gods plan of salvation .. simple, yet perfect. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. I have given so much prayer to this topic of salvation lately. Theres been so much discussion. I believe this has been Gods plan to refresh us all on this subject. Jesus set his face like a flint to the cross. There was nothing that was going to deter Him from making that walk to Calvary. I feel the exact same way on true salvation. God has impressed upon me so plainly that any acts on our part to try and be good enough to be saved .. are an abomination to Him, as it denigrates the finished work on the cross. And all this has made me more resolute than ever. Salvation is by grace .. thank God for his unmerited favor to a lost sinner like me .. through faith .. the substance of things hope for .. the evidence of things unseen .. faith in that finished work .. faith in the One who gave His life that we might have eternal life. Not faith in anything I try to do. Anything else added to that is pure boasting and mans arrogance. I pulled a couple of exerpts from a couple of great men of God who preached the simple Gospel of Jesus Christ. Men who had no ulterior motives .. didnt try to create a second gospel .. just preached the Word..using the true Word: “When you get saved, you get saved not because you deserve it, but because you simply let God save you and because you confess your own poor sinful state and your inability to save yourself. “The change in your heart, sinner, is Gods part and you may be sure He will attend to that. Your part is to simply believe in Him. Whatever else is necessary in your eternal salvation, the Lord attends to when you trust in Him, or believe in Him.” SOURCE: What Must I DO To Be Saved, by Dr. John R. Rice My note: Dr. Rice is scripturally right on the money. Who am I to judge whether or not a person is sincere? There are self-righteous people in our churches today who demand a changed-life as a PREREQUISITE for salvation. This is unbiblical, a heresy, and a perversion of the simple Gospel of Jesus Christ. The thing to do is to take for granted that people are saved when they simply trust Jesus Christ for salvation. We as a church must be diligent in our efforts to preach the simple plan of salvation and allow God to do His work; that of drawing all men unto Him. “The Gospel is not a call to repentance, or to amendment of our ways, to make restitution for past sins, or to promise to do better in the future. These things are proper in their place, but they do not constitute the Gospel; for the Gospel is not good advice to be obeyed, it is good news to be believed. Do not make the mistake then of thinking that the Gospel is a call to duty or a call to reformation, a call to better your condition, to behave yourself in a more perfect way than you have been doing in the past … Nor is the Gospel a demand that you give up the world, that you give up your sins, that you break off bad habits, and try to cultivate good ones. You may do all these things, and yet never believe the Gospel and consequently never be saved at all.” SOURCE: Harry A. Ironside, from the sermon: What Is The Gospel? So true Dr. Ironside! Very plainly stated. Keep Lookin UP and Listenin for the SHOUT!
