God’s Redemptive Love Psalm 130:7-8 “O Israel, hope in the LORD; for with the LORD there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows. He himself will redeem Israel from every kind of sin” Psalm 130:7-8 (NLT). How often does the world cry out for exactly what God promises—unfail ing love? These two words are the desire of every human heart— the desire to experience unfailing love. But, unfortunately, this world offers love that’s ever-failing, not never-failing; love that’s painful, not comforting; love that’s angry, not kind; love that crushes the spirit, rather than lifting it. This, my friend, is not love. It’s a false promise that gives us a twisted, distorted picture of love. God, on the other hand, promises the unfailing love that the world is constantly searching for. But that’s not all; He also promises rescue and restoration. I love the second part of this passage because it makes it clear that God doesn’t leave the rescue to just anyone. He wants to be sure that it’s done exactly right, so He Himself redeems us—He buys us back from sin. And not just from a few of our lesser sins; no, He redeems us “from EVERY kind of sin!” I am constantly in awe of the picture the Bible paints of God —a God eager to get His hands dirty in order to make sure that the rescue mission is a success. He doesn’t want anything to get in the way of safely returning His children to His loving arms. He is totally committed to, and fully involved in, every part of the plan. There isn’t a single detail He leaves to chance, because His deepest desire is to redeem us from every kind of sin and to live with us in eternity.
