God’s Refinery – Don’t Worry! Be Happy There is this popular song written by Bobby McFerrin titled “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” I have cropped a few lines from the song: “In every life we have some trouble When you worry you make it double Don’t worry, be happy” Worry will only succeed to double your troubles. Worry will not change your situation. It will compound the problem and cause you to experience a burnout. You do not have control of what might have happened to you in the past. It is confined to your memory and a part of your history now. Don’t let it bother you and don’t play to the gallery of the enemy because of the error you must have made in the past. Worry is lethal! It obstructs your vision and makes it difficult for you to see clearly most times. Worry can breed depression and depression if not checked can lead to other deadly evil. You should realize that you cannot face the battles of life alone. You need the ever abiding presence of the Lord. He knows everything about you. He has the blue print to your life. Our worries will not change the plans of God for our lives but if this is not dealt with, it can prevent us from receiving the best from the Lord. You can be the very best that God has for you. He is taking you on a journey. He has the road map to your destination. Letting Him lead the way will make your journey easy. The scripture says in Luke 12:25-27 (CEB), “Who among you by worrying can add a single moment to your life?If you can’t do such a small thing, why worry about the rest? Notice how the lilies grow. They don’t wear themselves out with work, and they don’t spin cloth. But I say to you that even Solomon in all his splendor wasn’t dressed like one of these.” There is nothing that destroys the body like worry and if we have faith in the God that created the universe and made everything therein, then it will be a shame to allow worry ravish our lives. Have faith in the Lord; put your trust in Him. Pray to God and let Him be the one to worry about the answer. The Scriptures says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7. There are people who grumble about their future, but in reality, each one of us will determine the outcome of our future. We did not have influence over the family we were born into or determine the circumstances that surrounded our birth but the truth is, you are not a biological accident, neither are you an experimental failure. You were born with a purpose. Discovering your purpose and deciding what you will do with it will determine how far you’ll go in life. Don’t let your background tie you to the ground. You have no excuse. What you make of your life is entirely up to you. Rise Up! It’s not too late for you to make a turn around. Henry Ward Beecher said, “It is not work that kills men; it is worry. Work is healthy; you can hardly put more upon a man than he can bear. Worry is the rust upon the blade. It is not the revolution which destroys the machinery but the friction. Fear secretes acids; but love and trust are sweet juices.” Worry is the deposit of a problem you may never encounter. It drains today of its strength and may fill your tomorrow with untold sorrow.
