God’s grace isn’t limited to what He’s done for us in the past. Many people live in spiritual poverty simply because they don’t realize the riches they possess in Christ today. God doesn’t expect us to live the Christian life by self-powered works and sin management. Rather, He calls us to continue to acknowledge our spiritual impotence, accept His everyday grace, and live in gratitude. “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence” (2 Peter 1:3).
