Going Dark…Why we do it and do we really need the lights off? Most of the claims of paranormal activity happen at night, so it only seems right that paranormal investigators investigate in the dark. Is this the right way to ghost hunt? Can we investigate with the lights on? The decision of investigating with the lights on or off should be decided by knowing when the activity occurred. There are many cases of paranormal activity occurring in the daytime and in order to recreate that event it would make sense to investigate in the daytime. There are reasons why paranormal investigators “Go Dark”. The vast majority of paranormal activity is claimed to happen at night. Many clients will tell you that the later at night, the more activity occurs. There are many reasons this could be happening. The client is home to witness the activity (many homes are vacant during the day) and things are too noisy during the day. Many things are noticeable at night that are not during the day. That clock ticking on the wall, the drip of the faucet, the dog snoring on the floor or even a car going by are more profound at night. No one really knows for sure what the reasons are for increased paranormal activity at night. At night distractions are minimized, no background from a TV, less traffic and people are not constantly moving around. Investigating in the dark also allows the investigator to focus on the energy in the room and allows investigators to get a true feel for the room. Investigating in the dark also allows for investigators to capture light anomalies. Apparitions sometimes have faint glows when they form, which is easier to see in the dark. Debunking is easier at night as investigators are able to evaluate whether the light in the room is paranormal or just the lights of a passing car. Just because you see it on TV does not mean that you have to investigate in the dark. If the activity is reported as happening during the day, then by all means investigate in the day. Ghosts present themselves in the day just as they do at night. In my opinion it is more fun to investigate at night! What is your preference? Why would you chose day or night? Let us know.
