Going, going, and soon to be gone… Union County Bison-tennial Debate proves a hot ticket number! Ticket sales for the long-awaited Union County Bison-tennial Debate are proving to be among the hottest ticket offerings in all of the Susquehanna Valley this season, regardless of any fall football frenzy that may prevail. Tickets have been on sale since mid-summer and Bicentennial Co-chairs Nada Gray and John Showers now report that available seats are dwindling; those who want to feel the electricity in-person at The Campus Theatre on this historic evening should make fast tracks to the Government Center in Lewisburg for their tickets. Tickets are only on sale through the Commissioners’ Office at the Union County Government Center, 155 North 15th Street in Lewisburg (M-F 8:30-4:30). As the year-long Union County Bicentennial Celebration enters the homestretch, citizens from across the county will gather Wednesday evening, October 23rd at The Campus Theatre to heed the Union County Commissioners’ call to gather for a debate to settle---once and for all---the ever-lingering question: “Did the fabled buffalo (aka bison) actually roam our bucolic Union County valleys?” The Campus doors open at 5:30PM for a heavy hors d’oeuvres reception in advance of the 7:00PM debate. The League of Women Voters has established the rules, former Bucknell President Gary Sojka is the moderator, and the audience is judge and jury voting a final resolution at debate’s end. An “After-glow” follows at Barnes & Noble Bookstore across the street where town criers will announce the winning debate position. Only advance ticket sales at $25 per person will be honored for this event. Tickets may be purchased at the Union County Commissioners’ Office; contact Cindie Sheesley at (570) 524-3894 or [email protected]). Ticket price includes the reception, debate, and after-glow. Proceeds benefit and underwrite the 2013 Union County Bicentennial Celebration. Information about the Bison-tennial Debate and all Union County Bicentennial events may be found at UnionCounty200.org. The Bison-tennial Debate is a Union County Bicentennial Passport event.
