Going into the weekend, the question was whether our second loss - TopicsExpress

Going into the weekend, the question was whether our second loss of the season (being knocked out of the knockout cup by Macleans) midweek would affect our performance in the league. ASHS were able to play on North Harbour Stadiums tiger turf due to the Rugby 1XV also playing at home and requiring the school field; this suiting the 1XI quite well as the turf suits our playing style perfectly. The sun was shining and the lads were rearing to go and show Waitakere (who put up a great fight against Albany when we visited them) just what we can do. The whistle blew and right away we were on the front foot with chances being created and narrow misses. Kofi Mensah was first on the scoresheet with a great little run through 3 defenders and powered the ball into the back of the net, 1 nil ASHS. Tom Burfoot who had been ill all week was substituted for shining second team striker Ilias Vasilikas who also got onto the scoresheet with a well taken goal. 2 nil. Half time saw Mingi So (who played brilliant in the midfield) leave for club duties and Kian Hossienpour to take his place. The second half saw Logan Smith add his name to the score sheet after Alex Richardson played a stunning ball through the defence for Logan to slot the ball home, 3 nil. Waitakeres striker had some rampaging runs with some pace that the 3 man defence found hard to contain at times but had no real end product or risk against us. Albany starved the ball almost completely from Waitakere who endured a game of chasing the ball. Alex Richardson decided it was time to finish off Waitakere when he took advantage of a loose ball in the 18 yard box beat a player and then finished off nicely. 4 nil ASHS. Waitakere finally got some sort of consolation after they attempted a cross which deflected off Aaron Taylor and lobbed Kaleb Figueroa in goal. An unfortunate goal. Overall, a stunning performance from the lads and form we will want to maintain to take out the league and tournament in the coming month. FT SCORE 4-1 ASHS (Kofi Mensah, Ilias Vasilakas, Logan Smith, Alex Richardson)
