Going over some old pictures I came upon this one of my dad and his brother Andre who were WW1 Veterans . In fact the picture was taken in 1918 while they were in England after the war. I did some research and here are some facts I learnt about them: Andre Germain Stone – Departed Trinidad for England on the First Merchants’ Contingent on October 18, 1915. Trooper, 2nd Life Guards, Transport, Heavy machine gun section, Tank Corps. Percival Joseph Stone - Departed Trinidad for England on the Fourteenth Merchants’ Contingent departed on January 31, 1918. Original posting was to the Royal Fusiliers then Private, Army Pay Corps. Regiment No: 20296 Back to Trinidad WI from War – June 14, 1919 on the CMS Chaleur He lied about his age by 2 years when he joined (Born: March 24, 1901 & Died: December 22, 1971); and was also the youngest soldier from Trinidad to enter the war. On his return to Trinidad, he was greeted by and shook hands with the Governor of Trinidad & Tobago Sir John Robert Chancellor. With this also being the Patricia’s 100th as well as the start of the war. I salute all the veterans of all the armed services. Once a Patricia Always a Patricia! See you at the Better ‘Ole.
