Going to ask some advice about my business..... as some of you - TopicsExpress

Going to ask some advice about my business..... as some of you might know, I run a website called A Taste For The Woods. It started as a mere platform for my writing but Ive always had a strong call to advocacy for participation in the outdoors. When I was 400 pounds and couldnt walk a city block, that world was cut off from me. Now I cant let anyone tell anyone they cant participate. But Im not someone content to hurl pronouncements from my computer chair. I want people, all people, to get out and experience, and the outdoor industry doesnt do that. They cater to slim, healthy, people in their 20s - look at the covers of magazines for examples. And retail is worse - I received an apology from a major outdoor chain after one of their store managers told me I was too fat to backpack. Anyway my goal is to use the website as support to a company offering guides and tours to people who might want to experience the outdoors but not athleticism. Two thirds of Americans over the age of 45 do nothing in the outdoors in the course of a year, according to a 2011 survey. Thats an enormous market that could be converted, but instead the outdoor industry wants to fight for the 1/3 they know. My question is one of location. I had my original plan on moving to the Pennsylvania Wilds area, Wellsboro/Bradford/Williamsport and other little cities surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness. But I fear as an upstart Ill get crushed by established outfitters - for instance, Wellsboro is swamped with outfitters covering PAs Grand Canyon. Also, I need to earn a living while A Taste For The Woods gets up and running, and small towns arent known for having diverse and bustling economies. So, Im asking for suggestions on where I could relocate based on A.) an area with a wide range of outdoor activities available and B) near a major population center so I could find a day job while I make my dream come to life. It neednt be in PA, but it would be nice if it could be. I made a lot of big leaps in the past two years. 2015 could see the biggest one. atasteforthewoods/
