Going to be talking to Jim Farris for the Double Feature review - TopicsExpress

Going to be talking to Jim Farris for the Double Feature review later today and then Andy Marshall to close out Hegels Phenomenology. Thought Id post some of my notes for the conversation with Jim here: Notes on the Adjustment Bureau 1. I kind of like their relationship at the beginning. The scene on the bus is kind of cute. They have chemistry. 2. The adjustment bureau is by far the better movie than the Time Travellers wife. At the start it is charming. The candidate who wants to change the world and who is inspired by a woman who breaks the rules to give a great speech. 3. It doesnt matter how you feel it matters whats in black and white. 4. Why didnt they just wipe his mind? 5. The unreal space and secret interstices make the movie more enjoyable. 6. The problem is that the love story DOESNT matter in and of itself. Compare to Star Trek City on the Edge of Forever. 7. Why doesnt the love story matter? Because the love story doesnt impact the Adjustment Bureau. Instead the Chairman just rewrites the plan so they can be together. However, were told that the Chairmans goal is to prepare humanity so it can write its own plan. How could it be possible for people to write their own plan? Only if they realize they are the Adjustment Bureau already, right? Why didnt this movie make that happen? Because it substituted individual authenticity and romance for self-awareness. https://youtube/watch?v=KJ4qLGLrtoU
