Going to share this simply because its an example of something that is totally inaccurate at its core. We made plenty of mistakes tonight... but I dont think this was one of them - and I suspect Brandon would agree. A race track takes bullets based on he said - she said and it isnt even close to being accurate and both the driver in question and the track were on the same page the entire time and in close contact in resolving the issue: 1. There was never a problem between the track and Brandon. The track wanted Brandon to be able to race in both classes. We would never turn away a car in any class without a really good reason. 2. Brandon called or texted asking two questions: A. Could he race without a UMP license for one night in a ULMA car, and 2. Could he run Hoosier 55s tonight. Thats what the call before he came was about. Answers given yes and yes. 3. An issue gets raised as to whether Brandon could run the Late Model under a UMP sanction without jeopardizing his IMCA license due to a rule that seems pretty odd.. but an apparent IMCA rule nonetheless.. 4. Promoter visits with Brandon, gives him the option on what to do and both agree that its not worth risking Brandons ability to retain his IMCA Sportmod license over one night in a Late Model and they work together to find a different driver for the Late Model. Promoter even drives a member of Brandons crew to the grandstands to find a potential driver. The track needs Brandon here every chance we have running his Sportmod. 5. Promoter calls IMCA official before hot laps to get clarification, but no answer. 6. Someone in the pits later gets in touch with different IMCA official. Promoter calls the other IMCA official who tells promoter that Brandon would not be jeopardizing his IMCA Sportmod license if he drives the Late Model. 7. Promoter tells Brandon to go ahead and run both. End of story. There was no favoritism here. No turning away cars. No problem between the track and driver... basically there was absolutely no there there. Driver and the track worked together to solve an issue and it got solved to everyones satisfaction. Our ONLY concern as a race track was that Brandon not do anything that could keep him from being able to race his IMCA Sportmod in future weeks.. and that Brandon was aware of possible consequences when he made whatever decision he wanted to make. Brandon was always free to race either car or both cars, as long as he understood that there COULD be penalties from IMCA.
