Gonna be a chilly week, but not cold enough when theres moisture around. With temperatures falling through the 40s Monday along with rain (mainly morning), it will definitely feel more like Winter. And with below normal temps for the upcoming week, you might be tempted to think that weve turned the corner into a different pattern. And theres no question it is a different pattern than the one that led to mild conditions through much of December. But from my vantage point, its not gonna be good enough, at least not for the next couple of weeks. By the time the atmosphere is cold enough for snow this week, we will be drying out big time. And then when the moisture returns next weekend, itll be warming up, potentially quite a bit. No need to panic just yet. Even if the next 2 weeks are uneventful, we still have half of January and all of February and all of March left, and history tells us that a lot can happen during that time period. By the way, I know there are some of you who do not like snow, and have very good reasons for not liking it. I would never hope for anything that would bring hardship to anyone. I simply love the beauty and the quiet that snow brings. Perhaps a good compromise would be for a big snow followed by a very quick warmup. I could live with that!
