Gonna do a fully detailed Pirates 2015 preview in the next few weeks but Im gonna go out on a limb now and predict some of the things that will happen this off season: AJ Burnett will return to Pittsburgh on a one year $12mil contract. Possibly an option for 2015 as well. Marlon Byrd will re-sign a two year $14mil contract. Kyle Farnsworth will return on a one year $3mil contract. Garret Jones will be non-tendered, as will Travis Snider. The lone significant free agent move I see the team making is OF/1B Michael Morse, who will act as a fourth outfielder and insurance at 1B. Opening Day Line-Up 1.) LF Starling Marte 2.) 2B Neil Walker 3.) CF Andrew McCutchen 4.) 3B Pedro Alvarez 5.) RF Marlon Byrd 6.) C Russell Martin 7.) 1B Andrew Lambo (If Lambo struggles, Michael Morse will see a majority of the time at 1B) 8.) SS Jordy Mercer Starting Rotation 1.) Francisco Liriano 2.) Gerrit Cole 3.) AJ Burnett 4.) Charlie Morton 5.) Jeff Locke (Locke will be on a short leash and if he struggles early in the year, expect Brandon Cumpton to get a shot) Ill go more into detail with the full roster and projections in the near future.
