Gonna miss Ron Dahl a lot. Conversations (and even faculty meetings) with him were always inspired, adventurous, subversive, and respectful of the intelligence of students and faculty. He was a great looker at painting & made some very relevant observations on my work at key junctures, letting me know he was picking up on them and his take was resonant with mine. It was never advice, just the deep encouragement of reading the work, and it helped provoke ongoing growth. After he moved to Mexico he continued to send amazing letters and emails, usually very long, but occasionally very short, such as one giving me a heads up that we were entering a new phase of the Mayan calendar, and to Go with resolve.
