Good Afternoon Again! As many of you know I have been working on a project for the last couple of weeks. In reality this is a project Jim and I have been putting together for the last several months. I am a person who believes that haste makes waste and putting the cart before the horse usually dooms one to failure, so I have done a lot of research, and soul-searching as well. I have consulted with several people including commercial realtors, and I think now is the right time to move forward. I have been a Cottage vendor for more than 18 years and I have hosted many cottage events for vendors of handmade/homemade items such as jewelry, quilts, art, photography, soaps and other skin care products, jams, jellies, and self-published authors and musical artists. Many of these vendors have braved the elements in hopes of selling their merchandise at various flea markets and craft shows, each time loading, unloading, setting up and then taking down their displays. The purpose of this fundraising project is four-fold: 1. To create a permanent brick and mortar cottage market where vendors can set up once and then come to work each week. 2. To showcase the talents of senior crafters and artists as well as artwork created by local schoolchildren. 3. To create a space where self-published authors and indie musicians can sell their works as well. One space will be reserved each week for a non-profit organization to promote their services and programs. There will also be opportunities to rent shelf space for products. 4. This project will also create jobs as it will allow cottage vendors to expand their small businesses and it will assist some in creating a distribution channel for those desiring to cast a wider retail net.
