Good Afternoon. Apologies for not posting about chairs and sitting arrangement yesterday. This was due to unavoidable circumstances. Lesson 2.Chairs & Sitting Arrangements Chairs are very important in any event. They are actually an important part of the overall décor in your event or wedding. There are 3 major types of chairs used in events namely, PVC arm chairs, PVC armless chairs and the Chiavari chairs as shown below. Sitting Arrangement. They include: 1. Theatre This resembles seats in a theatre/cinema with chairs arranged in straight rows. Advantages: -Its very simple. - Maximum seated capacity is achieved. Disadvantages: - Aisles are required to ensure sufficient access to seating area. - There is no provision for note taking or consumption of food and beverage. - Audience interaction is hindered as audience dont face each other. Recommended for meetings, product launches 2. Banquet/Restaurant Involves using a round table, with the audience seated around the circumference facing inwards. Advantages: - Audience interaction is fully enhanced, since they all face each other Disadvantages: - The audience is closed in, needing to push past others to enter/exit the seating area. Recommended for breakfast, lunch or dinner events. 3. Conference/ Boardroom This involves a rectangular table, with the audience all facing inwards. Advantages: - Encourages audience interaction as they all face inwards Disadvantages: - Restricts the position of a presentation area or focal point, typically to the end of the table Recommended for small meetings, one-one interviews, small presentations, team briefings. 4. Cocktail This style is unlike any others with no chairs. It is literally standing space. Advantages: - Most efficient use of floor space, with maximum room capacity available. - Audience interaction greatly enhanced, with audience members able to freely mingle and roam. Disadvantages: - Audience is standing with no opportunity to sit and rest. - Does not allow for note taking or consumption of plated food and beverage. Popular for parties, social events, cocktail dinners.
