Good Afternoon FB Friends! Today is my Christmas Turkey Salute of the Week! And Im hear to tell ya! This movie is so bad its good! DUNE directed by David Lynch-1984 Today marks the thirtieth anniversary of the release of this Universal Picture. The film was costly at $40 million which was a lot of money at the time. After the success of the Elephant Man, Dino De Laurentis hired him to write and direct the Frank Herberts classic Sci-Fi novel! No problem huh? Wrong! The film had been in developmental Hell since directors like Franklin Schaffner, Alejandro Jodoworsky & Ridley Scott tried and failed to translate the film. Then when filming was wrapped. Post production went way over budget and they had problems with cinematography while filming in Mexico! The film was a complete mess. The acting was wooden, the dialogue was unintelligible and the visual effects were cheesy even for 1980s standards. The film was so bad that even Lynch took his name off of the directors credit with an infamous Allen Smithee! But years later, the film has become a cult classic and its great to look at this film again and try not to take it so seriously. Enjoy the campiness. youtu.be/J_NRfPI6ABU
