Below is your forecast for tomorrow................................................. _____________________________________________________ This is the Official Forecast for Friday 19th of December 2014 for Gladstone to Cooktown and west to Mt Isa. _____________________________________________________ Weather Situation A surface trough stretches from the northwest of the state down to the southeast, and will be pushed northwards during Friday as a new high pressure system moves across southeast Australia. An upper level trough will move across southeast Queensland while strengthening during Thursday night and through Friday. Forecast for the rest of Thursday Showers and storms in a broad band from the northwest into the central west and down to the southeast of the state, and some of these storms may be severe. There is a slight to medium chance of showers and storms extending eastwards through the remaining central interior and into the Capricornia late in the day. Mainly moderate northeast to northwest winds across the eastern districts, fresh at times about the southeast coast. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds across the southern interior. Friday 19 December The slight to medium chance of some early morning showers and storms over the states southeast. A medium to high chance of showers and storms in a band from the northwest of the state, across the northern interior and down to the Capricornia and Wide Bay coasts. Some of the storms may be severe about the Capricornia and Central Coast districts. The northeast tropical coast should remain fine and mostly sunny. Fire Danger - Severe over the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, and very high over the southern districts and central west. Saturday 20 December The high pressure system should drift into the Tasman Sea while pushing a moist, yet milder onshore flow and some showers onto Queenslands far southeast. A medium to high chance of showers and storms in near the surface trough in a broad band from the Gulf Country across to the northeast tropics and down to the Wide Bay and Burnett region. A dry southerly flow should persist about the southern interior, leaving the region fine and mostly sunny. Sunday 21 December The high in the Tasman Sea should continue to push moisture from the Coral Sea into eastern Queensland, while the upper trough may strengthen well off the east coast, resulting in the slight to medium chance of showers and storms about Queenslands eastern tropics. The medium to high chance of showers and storms in a broad band from the northwest of the state down to the southeast interior, and still fine, dry and sunny in the states southwest. Monday 22 December A ridge of high pressure should persist about the east coast, pushing showers onto the far eastern districts at times. Mainly fine over the eastern interior, except for the chance of some isolated showers about the southeast and northeast. A broad area of low pressure over central Australia should draw moist northerly winds across Queensland into the far western districts, allowing for at least the moderate chance of showers and storms in the northwest.
