Good Afternoon Folks........ A few dark clouds greeted us this morning with even a few suburbs getting a sprinkle but it soon cleared to be a pleasant enough day. Im dusting off my storm dancing shoes Sarah and preparing to dance on the weekend although with the Carols by Candlelight on this Saturday Night at Reed Park (starting around 5.30pm) hopefully it holds off for that and is a great night for all. Currently its 28.4C and the Humidity is at 54%. Below is your forecast for Friday................................................. ____________________________________________________ This is the Official Forecast for Friday 5th of December 2014 for Gladstone to Cooktown and west to Mt Isa. ____________________________________________________ Weather Situation A slow moving high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge along the Queensland east coast. A broad area of low pressure will extend through western Queensland, with a humid and unstable airmass remaining in place to its east. A series of upper troughs will move across southern Queensland from Friday through to the middle of next week, with the surface trough also moving slowly eastwards across the south of the state in response. Forecast for the rest of Thursday A medium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms over western and southern inland parts. A slight chance of showers for the central interior and parts of the Queensland coast. Mostly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, tending northwest to southwesterly over the interior. Friday 5 December A medium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms over western and southern parts, mostly during the afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms will likely be severe over the southern interior. A slight chance of showers over the central interior and for parts of the east coast, especially in the southeast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Mostly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, tending northwest to southwesterly over the interior. Fire Danger - Very High in the Channel Country. Saturday 6 December The upper trough will move slowly across the south of the state, with the surface trough shifting a little eastwards into the southeast inland in response. These features, combined with a moist and unstable airmass, will lead to rain areas over the southeast in the morning, and a band of showers and thunderstorms extending from the northwest of the state to the southeast corner. Rain areas are likely to develop again around the southeast in the the evening. Mostly fine conditions likely in the southwest. A medium chance of showers and storms is also expected through the tropical interior, while the east tropical and central coasts should only see showers for the most part. Sunday 7 December The upper trough will move over eastern Queensland while a new upper trough will shift into southwestern parts. The surface trough will shift further westwards towards the southwest of the state. Showers and thunderstorms are expected over most of the state, particularly through northern and eastern Queensland. Slight chance of showers or thunderstorms in the southwest. Rain areas are likely again through the southeast. Monday 8 December The upper trough will move over eastern Queensland, while the surface trough will shift slowly east. Showers and thunderstorms are expected over most of the state, particularly from the northwest to the southeast.
