An upper level low pressure system also lies over the interior and is helping to produce rain areas across parts of eastern Queensland. The upper low should weaken out by Saturday as it drifts east. Forecast for the rest of Thursday Showers, rain areas and thunderstorms from the central coast down to the southeast coast, with moderate to heavy falls possible over the from the Central Coast down to the Wide Bay and inland to the Central Highlands and Coalfields. Areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms are possible. A medium to high chance of showers and storms through the remainder of the eastern tropics and also over the central interior and southern interior. Fine and clear over the far west. Friday 23 January Showers, rain areas and storms from the Capricornia region down to the southeast, and inland to the Great Dividing Range, with some locally heavy falls possible, particularly with thunderstorms. A medium to high chance of showers and storms over the remainder of the eastern districts, and a slight to medium chance over the central interior and southern interior. Fine and sunny over the far west. Saturday 24 January A surface trough over the interior should allow showers and storms to form over much of Queensland, with activity more likely about the eastern districts. Fine and mostly sunny over most of the western interior. Sunday 25 January A broad area of low pressure may lie across central Queensland, and a broad upper trough may lie across the southern interior. Both weather systems may work together to produce showers and storms across most of the state, though it should be fine and clear over the western interior, and there should be just the chance of showers and storms about the southeast. Monday 26 January Showers and storms over the east of the state and throughout the tropics, and also about the southern interior districts.
