Good Afternoon, Lee Peck in for Cynthia. Heres a look at what we are working on today. An 18-year-old Lake Charles man is facing charges of killing a dog. It happened last week at a home on 18th Street. Plus, there are more questions surrounding the homicide investigation on 5th Avenue. Lake Charles Police not saying much about the investigation, other than the body of a 22-year-old woman was found early Saturday morning. Two murder trials began today. One in Jeff Davis Parish, where a 27-year-old Rosalyn Breaux is facing murder and attempted murder charges. Shes pleaded not guilty. KPLCs Erika Ferrando will have an update from Jennings. In another courtroom in Calcasieu Parish, Jury selection began in the trial of Jose Manuel Garcia-Guevara. Hes the illegal alien brought back to the U.S. to face charges in the death of Wanda Barton. Authorities say Garcia-Guevara stabbed Barton to death in her home in front of her four year old son. KPLCs Theresa Schmidt has been in the courtroom all day and will have the latest. And the Monday blues werent so bad thanks to the sunny skies. Chief Meteorologist Wade Hampton tells us how long the nice weather sticks around.
