Good Afternoon, Theta Chi, Gamma Xi Alumni and Friends. For those of you who do not know: my name is Joseph Gavidia and I am the current Chapter Advisor for the Gamma Xi Chapter. I have been working with the undergrads for about two years now and I am constantly impressed by the direction they maintain for the chapter and the progress they have made as a group of men over the last few years. Going off of that, and in an effort to further push the ever-growing chapter towards success, I am going to be starting a Chapter Advisory Board. Without going into too much detail on what that is, it is essentially a board of advisors who will work closely with the undergrads on their regular activities (similar to what I, and past brothers, do as an individual Chapter Advisor). Keep in mind that this board in no way replaces or even acts in the same fashion as the Alumni Board or the housing corporation for the chapter. The purpose of this board is to provide direct support and feedback for the chapter, its members, and the daily operations of the various officers. The Chapter Advisory Board (“CAB”) would meet as a group to discuss progress within the chapter. Also, the individual advisors would meet with the chapter’s current officers (Executive Board members, fundraising chairman, scholarship chairman, etc.) to brainstorm ideas and aid them in implementing them for the brothers that would be directly affected by their decisions. All of this is totally new for us to begin for the chapter, and is another way for alumni to contribute to the Gamma Xi chapters longevity. The creation of the CAB starts with finding people interested in taking on some of these roles.
