Good Day FB Family, This has been weighing heavy on my heart for a few days. I was talking with my youngest the other day. I was sharing some post and my daughter saw me post something about free turkeys and free thanksgiving dinner. She said M O M! (Literally she calls me M O M), she said, I didnt know there were so many poor kids in my school. I looked at her and ask her how does she know? She said because some kids steal because their families cant afford to replace their school supplies. She went on to say there are some kids that wait till kids are finished eating, they carry a baggie to put food in to take home. She said, one girl was yelled at because she was talking food that was being thrown away out of the garbage to take home because there wasnt enough food at home to eat and sometimes, they dont have any dinner. So my daughter said to me, mom I was talking some of my cereal to school and giving it to the girl so she wont get yelled at by the school staff. I had to go to my bathroom to cry. Cry for the loss of innocence for my daughter. Cry for the child who is going home hungry and taking food out of the garbage, My daughter ask me was I angry at her for taking food out of the house and giving it away? I just hugged her and told her I was very proud of her. I say all this to say, you may not need or use the information regarding free food. Someone you may know can use the information, please post and share. Remember for many families this is a long four day weekend, while we enjoy traveling, our families and plenty of food, there are many right next door that is not going to enjoy because it will be a great hardship.
