Good Day Family and Friends Inner Peace In a world filled with chaos , peace of mind or Inner peace even as believers is something that seems out of our reach, and yet something we all crave. As Believers we all want to feel free to enjoy life, family, friends, work, church, hobbies, entertainment, etc. We want to be able to enjoy ourselves and not be burdened down with worries that rob us of vigor, life, and purpose. When peace seems so out of reach, depression sets in, and other dark emotions take over. We often get angry and lash out at God or someone else near to to us. We wallow in self- pity, living in a world of hopelessness and darkness. While at the same time, crying in side for a moment of peace. Even as the storms of life rage around us. The question arises, how do you experience peace in your life? Or more to the point, How do you experience peace of mind, when the world around you is filled with chaos? If you area believer it is simply a matter of learning that there is freedom and peace found In praise and worship. I was being carried up an embankment by paramedics after my brother drove my car over a clift. The paramedic that attended me was worried that I was going to go in shook. But instead , I made him laugh. How? because I carried a tune in my heart; “ Jesus Loves Me, this I know” . I have found that that simple childhood song I was taught as a child , has seen me through the realities of dealing with my trails and tribulation. I have hummed that song more than once, when I was having an MRI, or before I had surgery. This childhood song, filled my heart as I stood looking out the hospital window after my stroke. And with this song filling my heart, peace reigned with in me. Praise and worship has been a very powerful force in my life. For it has helped me to rise above my chronic illness and disability. It has given me hope and healing of my soul, when I had no idea what my next step should be. The power of praise and worship can change a persons life and how they face the storms of life. Praise Elevates us in to the Presence of God. Acts 16:23-26 “And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.” Paul and Silas knew the secret of how to lift their hearts above their troubles and enter into God’s presence and power. Through praise and worship their hearts were raised into the joyous presence and peace of God, and provided God a channel for his power to operate in their circumstances. The Bible says that God inhabits in the praises of His people (Psalms 22:3). In other words, God “dwells” in the atmosphere of His praise. This means that praise is not merely a reaction from coming into His presence - Praise is a vehicle of faith which brings us into the presence and power of God! Praise and worship is the “gate-pass” which allows us to enter the sacredness of His glory. The psalmist writes, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name” (Psalms 100:4). Praise sends the Enemy Running Since praise manifests God’s presence, we also realize that praise repels the presence of the enemy, Satan. An atmosphere which is filled with sincere worship and praise to God by humble and contrite hearts is disgusting to the Devil. He fears the power in the name of Jesus, and flees from the Lord’s habitation in praise. “Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I show the salvation of God” (Psalms 50:23). When the children of Judah found themselves outnumbered by the hostile armies of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, King Jehoshophat and all the people sought the Lord for His help. The Lord assured the people that this would be His battle. He told them to go out against them, and He would do the fighting for them. So what did the children of Judah do? Being the people of “praise” (Judah actually means Praise), and knowing that God manifests His power through praise, they sent their army against their enemies, led by the praisers! So on they went, ahead of the army declaring, “Praise the Lord, for His mercy endureth forever!” And the scripture says, “...when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten” (2 Chronicles 20:22). Praise gives a person Peace of Mind I do not remember the last time I was angry, or fearful. I dont even remember the last time I had a fight with my husband. In fact , we are more in love and closure in our connection than ever in our 25 years of marriage. My Home is a haven of peace. A home filled with praise and worship, for I begin each morning with praise and hit my pillow with a song in my heart. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable -- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy -- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me -- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. (NIV) Philippians 4:6-9 My prayer for you today is that ; “The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:25-26 )
