Good Day People...Been watching the newsfeed and seeing the posts of the AFN Election...3 candidates is not what I was expecting...no women candidates is a serious disappointment...for me I was looking for fresh faces with new ideas and no baggage...Im not sure what the AFN Charter states about who can run but I thought Wab Kinew would have made for an interesting candidate...hes a bit of a rock star but he is well educated and he appears to be somewhat of an activist, which Im sure would make some Chiefs uncomfortable...there is still a hierarchy system within Indian Politics that is out of step with our communities as a whole...some chiefs only seek the prestige of the position and wield their power like a sword over their people...some chiefs see only the pay cheque...a few actually understand that they work for and represent the people and do their best to be mindful, humble and committed...Traditional Values are found in few chiefs and we know for sure that the systems are not Traditional at all...this is why I think AFN has run its course...its difficult to offer an absolute when it comes to what change will benefit all members...this system has been in place so long...however archaic this system is...it is whats in place at the moment and so we are stuck with it for now...until the chiefs can agree to let it go...which we know will not happen anytime soon...ekosi
