Good Day to you. Todays Fresh Manna (14.10.14) Encounters with Jesus - 7 (A New Series from the Gospel of Luke) ************************ Luke 5:12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. Luke 5:13 And He put forth His hand, and touched him, saying, I Will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. (Read Luke 5:12-16) I Will, Be Thou Clean! ************************ Heres a strange prayer! The leper did not plead for healing, but simply said, if You are willing, You can make me clean! Thats touching and teaches us two important spiritual truths. Firstly, the sick man did not demand that his need be met but rather sought for the Will of the Lord. This is the principle we notice all through the Scriptures. If God Will, then He will do whatever we ask and whatever He seems fit. Gods Sovereign Will is a truth we all must admit we do not understand nor accept often in our prayers. Most of our prayers are aggressive and demanding. We want to twist Gods Arm if that were possible by our tantrums like fasting, weeping, and worrying. God is never moved by mans compulsive threats. God works according to His eternal plans and His Will must overrule everything He does. Even the Lord Jesus accepted this fact and sought the Fathers Will and not His Own Will too. Secondly, the leper believed that the Lord has power to heal him. You can, he confessed in his short prayer. Thats an expression of great faith that brought instant answer to his prayer and healed him immediately. When you pray, do you believe in your prayers and the power of God to answer you and do as He pleases? Many believe in the prayers and powers of other people and not God. God is the One who can and will heal you, save you and sanctify and use you- all for His glory. He never gives His glory to anyone (Isaiah 42:8). The Lord warnd him not to tell any one. Why? The Lord wanted him to obey what was written in the Scriptures and express gratefulness to what God has done for him. Many go away and enjoy the pleasures of sin and become busy in the worldly and forget to give thanks or respond in gratitude to what God has done in their lives. Giving shows you have received from the Lord and are thankful to Him. But this man went round broadcasting and the Lords movements and ministry were hindered due to crowds pressing on Him. He had to separate Himself and spend time in prayer. Many are doing so much publicity about themselves and what they are doing, with their photos, banners, hoardings, etc like the Politicians do. It is against the Lords wishes and He never approves such people nor their works, how great they may appear in peoples eyes. Ask for Gods Will to be done in whatever you desire Him to do for you and believe in His power to do. Never hinder Gods work by your self-boasting or worldly publicity. Be grateful and give to the Lord and His work as the Word of God commands. Amen.
