Good Deed Daily (Learn Ayatul Kursi) 2:255 (Qur’an) Allah. There is no god but He, the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him or sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory). Ubayy bin Ka‘b (ra) narrated that one day, the Prophet (saw) asked “O Ubayy! What is the most excellent verse of the Quran?” Ubayy replied, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” The Prophet (saw) said, “In your opinion, what is the most excellent verse of the Quran?” Ubayy bin Ka‘b replied, “Allah – There is no god but He”(i.e. Ayat al-Kursi). The Prophet (saw) placed his hand on his chest and said, “O Ubayy bin Ka‘b! May your knowledge be pleasant for you.” (Sahih Muslim: Fada’il al-Qur’an, under Surat al-Kahf & Ayat al-Kursi. Imam Muslim) Abu Umamah (ra) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Whoever recites Ayat ul-Kursi immediately after each prescribed Prayer, there will be nothing standing between him and his entering Paradise except death.” (Nasai, Ibn Hibban, Darimi) Action Plan: It is one of the loftiest ayah of the Quran. The reader is protected from evil. If one reads it in the morning, he is protected until evening, and if he reads it in the evening he is protected until morning. It is equal to a quarter of the Quran.
