Good Evening All...... A lovely day in Townsville with the showers finally clearing today and the temp crept up and hovered around the 27C/28C.. The showers have not left the region all together with a chance of a shower late tomorrow. Currently its 22.6C although does feel a little warmer with the humidity sitting on 78%. Below is your forecast for tomorrow. ___________________________________________________________ This is the Official Forecast for Thursday 12th of June 2014 for Gladstone to Cooktown and west to Mt Isa. __________________________________________________________ Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure extends along the east coast from a high near New Zealand. The ridge will gradually weaken as the high drifts further southeast over the next few days. A surface trough will enter the southwest of the state during Thursday and continue moving eastwards, with an upper level trough to follow through southern Queensland on Friday. A new high over Western Australia combined with a low off the southern New South Wales coast on the weekend should push cooler and drier air into Queensland from the weekend. Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Fine and mostly clear across the state, apart from isolated showers along parts of the east coast. Light to moderate east to southeast winds, fresh about the east coast. Thursday 12 June Isolated showers along the east coast, tending scattered along the North Tropical Coast. Cloud increasing in the southwest with patchy rain developing. Isolated showers in the northwest of the state. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Light to moderate east to southeast winds, fresh about the east coast. Winds becoming south to southwesterly in the far west of the state. Friday 13 June The upper trough should move eastwards across the state, extending a band of patchy light to moderate rain over the southern and western interior districts. Increasing humidity levels should result in some showers over the eastern tropics, possibly tending to patchy rain at times. Isolated to scattered showers developing about the southeast. Becoming cooler and drier later in the day over the west after the surface trough passes through. Saturday 14 June The surface and upper trough will both progress to the east across southern Queensland, extending a band of patchy, light to moderate rain over the southeast and central east districts. Isolated showers about the northern tropics, tending scattered near the North Tropical Coast. Fine and dry in the interior, with a cool to mild day. Sunday 15 June The surface trough will push east over the Coral Sea, with cooler and drier air over most of the state. Isolated showers over the far northeast of the state. Isolated showers possible over the southeast interior.
